November 2025 RCA Update

Welcome to our latest monthly update!

I have just returned from 2 months in the UK as mentioned in the previous post. On analysing the offering of English coins in the UK before departure I noted a shrinking availability of quality coins via the main coin dealers. Whether this is part of a trend or just ups and downs only time will tell.

In Australia too there are relatively few quality English coins for sale via dealers and in recent auctions. It has been suggested that fewer collections are coming to the market. The effect of weakening supply on price remains to be seen.

This month we have added a few Roman coins as we continue to build this sector. Again there are relatively few quality Roman coins available to purchase. Most auctions are currently dominated by lower quality product but they are all selling well.

Whilst in England I met with one avid metal detector coin collector. On reviewing the coins he found I noted they were of low quality- either worn or suffered exposure to the elements – but of historical interest. It is an exciting hobby and finding a hoard is always just around the corner! In fact 90% of Celtic coins in the UK have been discovered with metal detectors.

In November we will update descriptions of our gold selection and look to bring more coins for sale. Gold bullion has increased 60% in 2025 so there is likely to be some impact on gold coin prices too.

Happy collecting!
